3-Ply Face Masks

The outer layer resists fluid and splashes, the middle layer does the actual filtering, and the inner layer sits comfortably against the skin and absorbs moisture from breathing. A single-layer cloth covering cannot replicate this, which is why 3-ply construction remains the practical standard for genuine day-to-day protection, whether that is flu season, protecting an immunocompromised family member, or simply navigating a smog-heavy day in a major city.

Using a Mask Properly

• Ensure a snug fit over the nose and mouth with no visible gaps at the sides.
• Avoid touching the front of the mask once it is on. Handle it by the ear loops only.
• Replace a disposable mask after several hours of use, or sooner if it becomes damp or visibly soiled.
• Wash your hands before putting a mask on and after removing it.

Disposable Examination Gloves

A box of examination gloves earns its place in most households for reasons well beyond a clinical setting: caring for a family member during illness, changing a wound dressing, cleaning up after a pet, or general disinfecting where you want a barrier between your hands and whatever you are handling.

LifeCare‘s gloves are latex and powdered, the traditional and widely used glove construction. Worth knowing if you are buying for regular use: latex allergy is a genuine, if relatively uncommon, medical condition, and powder can carry trace latex proteins into the air more readily than a powder-free glove would. If anyone in your household has a known latex sensitivity, this is worth checking before regular use, though for occasional household use by someone without a known allergy, this is a well-established and reliable glove type.

Using Gloves Correctly

• Wash or sanitise your hands before putting gloves on, not just after removing them. Gloves protect against what you touch next, not what is already on your hands.
• Treat gloves as single use. Remove and replace them between different tasks rather than reusing a pair.
• Remove gloves by peeling from the wrist without touching the outer surface with bare skin, then wash your hands immediately after.
