The Beurer BG-51 XXL is a heavy-duty diagnostic bathroom scale designed for users who need a higher weight capacity, a larger standing surface, and full body composition analysis in one device. Its 200 kg maximum capacity is the highest available in the Beurer bathroom scale range, supported by a robust 8 mm thick tempered safety glass platform measuring 39 × 30 cm — providing a stable, wide standing area that accommodates larger body frames comfortably and safely.

Beyond weight, the BG-51 uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) via brushed stainless steel electrodes embedded in the glass surface to measure body fat percentage, body water percentage, muscle percentage, and bone mass — all simultaneously, displayed on the large multi-display with 28 mm digits showing up to 8 values at once. BMI and AMR (Active Metabolic Rate) calorie recommendations are calculated automatically and displayed alongside body composition. Ten user profiles with automatic recognition support a full family, with each user able to set one of 5 activity levels. Touch-key operation, Quick Start step-on activation, overload indicator, and auto shut-off are all included. CE certified with a 5-year Beurer warranty. 4 × 1.5V AAA batteries included (rechargeable batteries not suitable). Dimensions: 39 × 30 × 2.5 cm. Available in Pakistan at Jarahi.

Why Choose Beurer Diagnostic Scale

  • 200 kg XXL Capacity: The highest weight capacity in the Beurer bathroom scale range — specifically designed for users with larger body frames. 100 g graduation throughout.

Usage Instructions

  1. Before first use, insert 4 × AAA batteries (non-rechargeable alkaline only) and set up your user profile via the touch keys — entering age, height, gender, and activity level (1–5).
  2. Place the scale on a hard, flat, level surface — carpet is not suitable and will produce inaccurate readings.
  3. Ensure your feet are dry and clean before stepping on — wet feet significantly distort BIA measurements.
  4. Step onto the centre of the glass platform with bare feet, ensuring both feet make full contact with the stainless steel electrode areas.
  5. Stand still while the scale recognises your user profile and measures weight followed by body composition. The multi-display shows all values simultaneously within seconds.
  6. Step off — the scale powers down automatically.
  7. For consistent, comparable results: weigh at the same time each day, preferably in the morning after using the toilet, before eating or drinking, and without clothing.

Care and Storage Instructions

  • Clean the glass surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
  • Never immerse in water or rinse under running water — the electronics are not waterproof.
  • Do not use abrasive or chemical cleaning products on the glass surface or electrodes.
  • Protect from hard knocks, temperature fluctuations, and nearby heat sources.
  • Do not place objects on the scale when not in use — sustained load can stress the mechanism.
  • If the battery compartment becomes corroded, remove batteries with gloves, clean the compartment with a toothbrush and a small amount of vinegar, allow to dry fully, then insert new batteries.
  • Do not use rechargeable batteries — the lower 1.2V voltage of rechargeable AAA cells can affect scale performance and accuracy.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Not suitable for users with pacemakers, implanted electronic devices, or other medical implants — the BIA electrical impulse may interfere with implanted devices.
  • Not suitable during pregnancy — BIA should not be used by pregnant women.
  • Not recommended for users under 10 years of age or elite athletes — BIA results may be inaccurate for these groups.
  • Body composition results (body fat, water, muscle, bone) are estimates based on BIA technology — for health monitoring guidance only, not medical diagnosis.
  • Always stand barefoot on the electrodes for BIA — socks, stockings, or footwear will prevent the measurement.
  • Wet feet will distort BIA readings — ensure feet are dry before stepping on.
  • Do not step on the edge of the scale when getting on or off — this can cause it to tip.
  • Do not jump onto the scale.
  • Do not exceed the 200 kg maximum capacity.
  • Use only on a hard, flat, level surface.
  • Do not use rechargeable batteries.
  • Not intended for commercial weighing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is BIA and how accurate is it for body composition?

BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) works by passing a tiny, safe, imperceptible electrical current through the body via the stainless steel electrodes on the standing surface. Different body tissues — fat, muscle, water, and bone — conduct electricity at different rates. The scale uses these differences alongside your personal data (age, height, gender, activity level) to estimate body composition. BIA results are most accurate when measured consistently at the same time of day, under the same conditions (before eating, after using the toilet, dry feet). Results are estimates — best used for tracking trends over time rather than as absolute clinical measurements.

Why does my display show “Error 2”?

Error 2 on the BG-51 XXL indicates a measurement issue. Common causes are: the 200 kg maximum capacity has been exceeded; the electrical resistance between the electrodes and your feet is too high (very calloused or dry skin) — slightly moisten the soles of your feet and try again; body fat percentage is outside the measurable range (below 3% or above 55%); or body water percentage is outside the measurable range (below 25% or above 75%). Always measure barefoot with clean, slightly damp feet for best results.

What is AMR and how does the BG-51 calculate it?

AMR (Active Metabolic Rate) is an estimate of the total daily calories your body needs based on your Basal Metabolic Rate (the calories burned at rest) adjusted for your chosen activity level (1–5, set in your user profile). Activity level 1 represents sedentary (little to no exercise) and level 5 represents very active (intense exercise most days). The AMR figure is a practical daily calorie target — maintain your current weight by eating at AMR, lose weight by eating below it, or gain by exceeding it.

How does automatic user recognition work with 10 profiles?

Each of the 10 users sets up a personal profile with their age, height, gender, and activity level. When you step on the scale, it compares the BIA result and weight reading to all stored profiles and selects the most likely match automatically — displaying the user number before showing your measurements. If you are a new user or the scale cannot match your profile, it will prompt you to confirm or select your profile manually.

How does the BG-51 XXL differ from the BF-105?

The BG-51 XXL has a higher 200 kg capacity (vs 180 kg), a larger 39 × 30 cm platform with 8 mm glass (vs 30 × 30 cm standard glass), 10 user profiles (vs 8), and 5 activity levels. The BF-105 adds Bluetooth connectivity to the Beurer HealthManager Pro app for automatic data syncing and long-term tracking, BMR calculation (in addition to AMR), and per-user measurement history (30 readings stored on device). Choose BG-51 XXL for the highest capacity and largest platform; choose BF-105 for Bluetooth app connectivity and measurement history.
