The Citizen CH-453 is a step up from the CH-452, adding two important clinical indicators — a Body Movement Indicator and an Irregular Heartbeat Indicator — while maintaining the same one-touch operation, 90-reading memory, and average-of-last-3-readings function that make the Citizen range reliable for home monitoring.

The Body Movement Indicator detects excessive arm or body movement during measurement and flags the result as potentially inaccurate — reducing the chance of a false or unreliable reading being recorded. The Irregular Heartbeat Indicator alerts the user when an irregular pulse pattern is detected during the measurement cycle, providing an additional layer of cardiovascular awareness. Both are awareness indicators and not medical diagnoses.

The large LCD display simultaneously shows systolic, diastolic, and pulse readings clearly. Battery life extends to up to 1,000 readings per set of batteries. An optional large cuff and AC adapter are available separately for users who require them.

Usage Instructions

1. Install batteries. Sit quietly for 5 minutes before measuring.
2. Wrap the cuff around your upper left arm, approximately 1–2 cm above the elbow.
3. Rest your arm on a flat surface at heart level, palm facing upward. Sit upright and remain still.
4. Press START once. The cuff inflates and measures automatically.
5. Do not talk or move during measurement. Results appear on the display after deflation.
6. Check the body movement and irregular heartbeat indicators alongside your reading. Review the 3-reading average in memory if needed.
7. Measure at the same time each day for consistent long-term tracking.
