The Beurer PO-30 is a compact, CE-certified fingertip pulse oximeter designed for fast, non-invasive monitoring of arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2) and heart rate (pulse rate) at home, during travel, and at high altitude. Using two wavelengths of light — red (660 nm) and infrared (880 nm) — it measures SpO2 within the 0–100% range with an accuracy of ±2% in the clinically relevant 70–100% range, and pulse rate across 30–250 beats per minute with ±2 bpm accuracy. The entire measurement takes only seconds.

The bright colour display offers four viewing orientations and adjustable brightness — allowing clear readability from any angle and in any ambient lighting. A real-time pulse bar graph is shown alongside the numeric SpO2 and heart rate values, providing immediate visual confirmation of signal quality. At just 61 × 36 × 32 mm and approximately 57 g, the PO-30 is genuinely pocket-sized. The included lanyard and belt pouch make it easy to carry during sports, travel, or outdoor activity. Auto shut-off conserves battery, and a low battery indicator gives advance warning before power runs out. CE certified as a medical device. 5-year Beurer warranty. 2 × 1.5V AAA batteries included. Available in Pakistan at Jarahi.

Why Choose Beurer Pulse Oximeter

  • SpO2 Measurement (0–100%, ±2% accuracy): Non-invasive arterial oxygen saturation reading from the fingertip. Accuracy of ±2% is confirmed for the 70–100% range — the clinically relevant range for monitoring respiratory health.
  • Heart Rate / Pulse (30–250 bpm, ±2 bpm accuracy): Pulse rate measured simultaneously with SpO2 — covers the full physiological range from resting bradycardia to peak exercise.
  • Colour Display with 4 Viewing Orientations: Rotate the display to any of 4 positions for comfortable reading regardless of how you hold the device.
  • Adjustable Brightness: Adapt the display brightness to your ambient environment — bright outdoors or dimmed in a dark room.
  • Real-Time Pulse Graphic: Live bar graph displayed alongside numeric values — provides visual confirmation that the device has a strong, stable signal before accepting a reading.
  • Ultra-Compact and Lightweight: 61 × 36 × 32 mm, approx. 57 g — genuinely pocket-sized for everyday carry.
  • Suitable for High-Altitude Sports: Specifically designed for use in low-oxygen environments — trekkers, mountaineers, skiers, and altitude athletes can monitor SpO2 during activity.
  • Suitable for Respiratory Condition Monitoring: Particularly recommended for individuals with COPD, bronchial asthma, heart failure, and other conditions where SpO2 monitoring is beneficial.
  • Lanyard and Belt Pouch Included: For secure, convenient carry during outdoor activity or travel.
  • Auto Shut-Off and Low Battery Indicator.
  • CE Medical Device Certified. 5-Year Beurer Warranty.
  • 2 × 1.5V AAA Batteries Included.

Usage Instructions

  1. Insert 2 × AAA batteries into the battery compartment.
  2. Insert your index or middle finger fully into the clip sensor — the fingertip should touch the far end of the slot. The finger should be 10–20 mm wide and 5–15 mm thick for reliable measurement.
  3. The device powers on automatically when the finger is inserted and begins measuring.
  4. Hold still with the hand relaxed — movement during measurement causes inaccurate readings. The reading stabilises within a few seconds.
  5. Read the SpO2 percentage and pulse rate on the colour display. Check the pulse bar graph — a stable, consistent graphic confirms a good signal quality.
  6. Rotate the display to your preferred orientation using the display orientation button if needed.
  7. Remove your finger when done — the device powers off automatically after a short delay.
  8. Do not use continuously on one finger for longer than approximately 2 hours — rotate to a different finger if extended monitoring is needed.

Care and Storage Instructions

  • Wipe the exterior of the oximeter clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth. A small amount of mild cleaning solution can be used if needed.
  • Never hold under running water or submerge — the device is not waterproof. Do not use high-pressure sterilisation.
  • Store in a dry place with relative humidity ≤95%. Ambient storage temperature should remain between -40°C and 60°C.
  • Store in the belt pouch when not in use to protect from dust and impact.
  • If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage damage.
  • Repairs must only be carried out by Beurer Customer Services or authorised service centres.

Warnings and Precautions

  • For monitoring and wellness purposes only — not intended for medical diagnosis. Consult a healthcare professional for medical interpretation of readings.
  • Nail polish, gel nails, false nails, or dark nail pigmentation on the measurement finger will prevent accurate SpO2 measurement — remove nail varnish or use a different finger without polish.
  • Remain still during measurement — hand, arm, or body movement causes inaccurate or failed readings.
  • Insufficient circulation in the measurement finger (e.g. from cold hands or low blood pressure) can prevent a successful reading — warm the hand or try a different finger.
  • Do not use continuously on one finger for longer than approximately 2 hours.
  • If SpO2 consistently reads below 95%, consult a healthcare professional promptly.
  • The PO-30 is not suitable for continuous monitoring — it provides spot-check measurements only. For overnight or extended monitoring, the Beurer PO-80 is available.
  • Electromagnetic disturbances may limit device performance in some environments.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not press buttons with pointed or sharp objects.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SpO2 and what do the readings mean?

SpO2 (peripheral oxygen saturation) is the percentage of haemoglobin in arterial blood that is carrying oxygen. In a healthy adult at sea level, normal SpO2 is typically 95–100%. Readings below 95% may indicate reduced respiratory efficiency and warrant medical attention. Readings below 90% are considered clinically significant and require prompt professional evaluation. Low SpO2 can result from respiratory conditions (COPD, asthma, COVID-19 / long COVID), heart disease, high altitude exposure, or sleep-disordered breathing.

Why is the PO-30 particularly useful at high altitude?

At altitude, the partial pressure of atmospheric oxygen decreases — meaning each breath delivers less oxygen to the bloodstream. This causes SpO2 to fall gradually as altitude increases. Trekkers, mountaineers, skiers, and altitude athletes use a pulse oximeter to monitor their acclimatisation and detect early signs of altitude sickness (acute mountain sickness begins to manifest when SpO2 drops significantly below sea-level baseline). The PO-30 is compact enough to carry on any expedition and takes a reading in seconds without removing gloves.

Why won’t the PO-30 give a reading when I use it?

Common causes of failed or unstable readings: nail polish, gel nails, or dark nail pigmentation on the measurement finger (use an unpainted finger); movement during measurement (hold very still); poor circulation in the finger (cold hands — warm them first, or try a different finger); finger size outside the 10–20 mm width range (try a different finger); or low battery (check the indicator). If none of these apply and readings remain unavailable, contact Beurer customer service.

How does the PO-30 differ from the PO-80?

The PO-30 is a spot-check oximeter — it measures SpO2 and pulse rate on demand, each time you insert your finger. It does not record or store measurements. The PO-80 adds continuous 24-hour recording capability, USB data transfer to a PC with included analysis software, an adjustable signal alarm that alerts when readings fall outside user-set limits, an optional pulse tone, and a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Choose PO-30 for convenient, portable spot-checking; choose PO-80 for overnight monitoring, extended recording, or when trend data and alarms are needed.

What warranty does the PO-30 come with?

The Beurer PO-30 comes with a 5-year worldwide warranty covering manufacturing defects. This is Beurer’s standard warranty across their medical device range and is significantly longer than most competing pulse oximeters. Full warranty terms are detailed in the instruction manual supplied with the device.
